Our Mission
Live2Free exists to challenge a generation to make personal choices that recognize the dignity of the individual and the responsibility of consumers to slow the demand that drives modern day slavery; and to network with others to rescue, rebuild and restore broken lives of victims worldwide.
Our Vision and Purpose
Live2free leads the way in deployment of concerned and passionate Freedom Advocates; from Universities, High Schools and Faith-Based Communities; to take the message to the streets and to the boardrooms.
It starts here. Consumers are ready for innovative change in fair trade product choices. Live2free spreads awareness on slave-free practices to consumers, corporations, and faith based communities about conscious consumerism: the choices we make and the products we buy can stop the demand for human trafficking. We also educate about conscious consumerism which encourages consumers to “think before you buy” and helps them understand the connection between the products we buy, and the choices we make, to the demand for trafficked humans. Educating the next generation will link the law of supply and demand for slave free products to the law of supply and demand for hypersexualized media and pornography to sex trafficking of women and children.
In addition to raising awareness and providing consumer action strategies, Live2free aims to collaborate with the public and private sectors to build and sustain a Safe House in Orange County where children who are rescued from Commercial Sexual Exploitation, a form of sex trafficking, can safely receive the care they need immediately upon rescue.
History
Live2Free is an outgrowth of the Lydia Today Foundation, founded by Sandra Morgan in Greece in 2001. Lydia Today, a 501(c) 3 corporation located in California, has evolved and is now doing business as Live2Free since the focus has turned towards advocacy and education to the Southern California market. Sandie started the Lydia Foundation because of her commitment to tell the stories of those who have no voice: the trafficked, the abused, the victims of crime and war.
When personal circumstances called Sandie and her husband, Jean, back to Orange County in 2004, Sandie was surprised to find that Human Trafficking was alive and well in Southern California just as it is in other parts of the world. She also saw how the affluence in Southern California contributed even more significantly to the demand side of the equation. Sandie then understood that she needed to continue to follow her passion to not only rescue and restore victims, but to “turn off the faucet”. As Sandie and Jean met others committed to the same cause, such as Alicia Woodard and Susan Munson, Live2free was born.
